As payors continue to drive toward increased cost control in the specialty pharmacy space, infusion providers of scaled practices have an opportunity to transform their practices through clear-bagging. Herein we address emerging payor pressure on conventional buy-and-bill, introduce provider opportunities presented by clearbagging, and contrast it with conventional buy-and-bill across financial, supply chain and operational metrics. Beyond countermeasures, we present the opportunity of “gold-bagging”, as a premium standard to specialty drug infusion, with its emphasis on integration, value-added services and patient centric focus.
